Cities of Light

Cities of Light is Rebecca Joy Fletcher’s theatrical love letter to 1920’s Jewish cabaret in Berlin, Paris, Warsaw and Tel Aviv.  This one-woman musical will take you back to that fierce and creative time. Katarina Waldorf is your guide; she’s a sassy and smart cabaret star who flees Berlin, seeking a city where Judaism and creativity can still thrive. Through her, you can celebrate a whole world of brilliant, hilarious, and all but forgotten artists.  Songs are archival; they’re performed in English, but with a peppering of the original Hebrew, French, German, and Yiddish. And they’re framed by Katarina’s story, which has inspired audiences around the world. The show been presented at theater venues in Paris, Warsaw, London, Jerusalem, Los Angeles, Montreal, Miami, Evanston IL, and New York City, and at synagogues, cabarets and JCC’s across the US. Anne Quesemand of La Vieille Grille Theatre in Paris writes, “CITIES is thrilling, smart and moving theatre. Our audiences fell in love with Rebecca!”
