Songs & Stories Chicago : Monica’s Playground featuring Monica Blaire
Known by those in the know, Detroit singer, songwriter, rapper, actress and all-around badass Monica Blaire has simultaneously been at the forefront and in the background of the entertainment industry for more than a decade.
As a singer and rapper, she has toured all over the world and put out projects such as 2006’s Portraits Of Me, as well as collaborated with the likes of Dwele, Zo!, Denaun Porter from Eminem’s D12 camp, and many more. As a songwriter she’s penned songs for a variety of artists including Gospel star J.Moss and Pop star Vanessa Williams. Her acting chops has seen her land a role in Tyler Perry’s hit stage play, Hell Hath No Fury Like A Woman Scorned among other projects.
Monica will grace the stage at Davenport’s and has every intention of taking the audience on a musical journey from Soul to Jazz to Rock to Hip-Hop and more. Monica’s Playground will be a grabbag of a good time with a little comedy (yes, she does that too!) sprinkled in for good measure.
Songs & Stories is an intimate night of live music with artists sharing unique stories about the songs performed and how they came about in the tradition of classics shows like MTV’s Unplugged and VH1’s Storytellers.
